They called it "The Passing" and it's set to release early 2010 for both PC and XBox 360. To answer your first question...yes, it's bringing the original Left 4 Dead survivors to the deep south to meet up with the new Left 4 Dead 2 foursome. The DLC will include new single-player and multi-player gameplay. We assume that "The Passing" is one new campaign. Anyway, it's supposed to take place after Dead Center. It's set in a small town so we can expect something similar to The Parish or Hard Rain. So far, it has been said that players will play as L4D2 Survivors as they meet up with L4D1 Survivors so we haven't heard anything about playing as the L4D1 Survivors. Along with this new campaign comes new levels for Scavenge and Surival mode as well (obviously the campaign will be playable in Versus). The passing will also include a new Uncommon Common, a new Melee Weapon, and a new Gun (now that's DLC!). This is expected to be the most important campaign of the L4D world as it brings all 8 Survivos together. Price has not been announced but you can expect Microsoft to force a price on it like they did for Crash Course.
What We Hope For:
- 4 or 5 levels. None of that Crash Course 2 level bull.
- Good dialogue. Bringing the old Survivors back offers a lot of possibilities for dialogue.
- By his looks, Francis is probably a fan of the Midnight Riders.
- New Achievements. We love the challenges. The Crash Course achievements made us so excited and provided new challenges and ideas for the game.
- The Ultimate Crescendo Events. With 8 Survivors, it would be cool to make the crescendo events more challenging. Maybe a part that throws 2 tanks at you at once.
- Playing as the L4D1 Survivors. Although, it probably won't happen.
- Not just a meet-up. The announcement could mean anything. It could mean playing with the 4 original Survivors for the entire campaign and they are all BOTS, or it could meen a 2-second encounter with them at some point during one of the levels. Either way, we hope they don't kill off the L4D1 Survivors (otherwise, why aren't they in Dark Carnival).
- Good Versus Gameplay. With the possibility of 8 Survivors, how will Versus work on this campaign? Each team plays with 4 bots? Each team is made up of 8 people? That's assuming that the Survivor's encounter is not just a 2-second meet up.
As many of you know, the PC version of the game offers more achievements than the 360 version. Our favorite is the OUTBREAK achievement. The description is "Catch a rare strain of infection, then pass it on to someone else." It's unlocked by being vomited on by a player-controlled Boomer who already has the achievement. The Achievement originated from Boomers controlled by VALVe developer players. This is by far the coolest idea for an achievement. Can we get something like this in the DLC?
